Enthusiasm for the Aerion supersonic jet went, well, supersonic at the EBACE air show in Geneva last month. The Aerion order book increased from $3 billion to $4 billion at the show with letters of intent now in hand for more than 50 of the Mach 1.6 business jets, each backed by a refundable $250,000 deposit. Early orders for the Aerion jet are priced at $80 million per aircraft.
Business at EBACE was brisk, beamed Aerion Vice Chairman Brian Barents. There is no question at this point that a strong market for this aircraft exists. It gives us a great deal of confidence that by the middle of next decade business leaders will be flying supersonically, and they will be doing so in the Aerion jet.
